The water leakage fault of mechanical seal is one of the most common faults in water pump faults, so the mechanical seal of water pump is also one of the key wearing parts of water pump components. When selecting the type of water pump, the mechanical seal material must be suitable for the liquid medium transported by the user. Generally, the water pump is delivered by fluororubber mechanical seal. Some manufacturers are Buna N mechanical seal. If the corrosion is serious, the mechanical seal made of tetrafluoro material must be selected.

Mechanical seal, also known as end seal, has a pair of end faces perpendicular to the rotation axis. Under the effect of fluid pressure and external elastic force compensation of the machine, the end faces rely on the matching of the seal to keep fit with the other end and slide relatively to prevent fluid leakage.

Solution:

1. The possibility of water leakage at the mechanical seal is that the dynamic and static ring plane of the mechanical seal is worn. There are six reasons for the plane wear of the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal:

2. The installation is too tight. Observe the plane of the moving and stationary rings of the mechanical seal. If there is serious burning, the plane is blackened and has deep traces, and the sealing rubber becomes hard and loses elasticity, this phenomenon is caused by too tight installation. Treatment method: adjust the installation height. After the impeller is installed, use a screwdriver to pull the spring. The spring has a strong tension, which will be reset after loosening, and the moving distance is 2-4MM.

3. The installation is too loose. Observe the plane of the moving and stationary rings of the machine seal. There is a thin layer of scale on the surface, which can be wiped off. The surface is basically free of wear. This is caused by the loss of elasticity of the spring and poor assembly, or the axial displacement of the motor.

4. The water quality is poor and contains particles. Due to poor water quality, small particles and high content of hydrochloric acid in the medium, the flat surface of abrasive wear mechanical seal or the strained surface will produce grooves, loops and other phenomena. Treatment: improve the water pressure or medium, and replace the mechanical seal.

5. Dry grinding is damaged due to water shortage operation. This phenomenon is mostly seen at the negative pressure at the inlet of the bottom valve type installation form, there is air in the water inlet pipe, and there is air in the pump chamber. After the pump is started, the friction of the mechanical seal at high speed will produce high temperature, which cannot be cooled. Check the mechanical seal, the spring tension is normal, the friction surface is scorched and blackened, and the rubber becomes hard and cracked. Treatment: exhaust the air in the pipe and pump chamber, and replace the mechanical seal.

6. Cavitation. Cavitation mainly occurs in hot water pumps. As the medium is hot water, steam is generated when the water temperature is too high, and the steam in the pipe enters the high place in the pump chamber, which cannot be eliminated, resulting in water shortage operation, failure of dry grinding of mechanical seal, cavitation, installation of automatic exhaust valve, and replacement of mechanical seal.
